New Goodsol Solitaire Forum
--
We have a new forum/community for solitaire fans - the new Goodsol
Solitaire Forum is at
Because of a server change, we had to change forum software. Our old
forum was running very old forum software. The new forum uses state of
the art forum software and has many more features. It will be a much
better community with time.
The Goodsol Solitaire Forum is a place where solitaire lovers can
interact - you can ask questions about our games. Also, it is the
place to go if you want to know if a particular game is winnable. All
you need to do is post a question of a game with a game number (for
example, FreeCell game #617 or Spider game #123456) and someone will
probably be able to either win it or even determine that it can't be
won.
To participate, just go to http://www.goodsol.net/forum and click on
the Apply for Membership button. Once your forum account is approved,
you'll be able to post questions or answers or comments on the forum.
If you had an account on our old forum, you'll need to create a new
account on the new forum. It's quick and easy to do, and I will be
approving new forum members quickly. Also, if you have a Google
account you can click on the Google button and very quickly create a
forum account.
The archives of all postings from the old forums (from 2003 to 2011)
are available, see the post on the new forum about the old forum
archives.

Featured Game - Trusty Twelve
--
Trusty Twelve is an unusual game in that there are no foundations. All
building takes place on the twelve piles of the tableau.
The game begins with one card dealt out face up to each of 12 piles.
The remaining cards form a stock. Play consists of building down
regardless of suit on the tableau piles. Only one card at a time may
be moved. Whenever a card is moved creating a space in the tableau, a
card is automatically dealt from the stock to fill the space.
The object is build enough sequences so that all the cards in the deck
are dealt out to the tableau. When all the cards are dealt and the
stock is empty, the game is won.
The skill in the game is in selecting which cards to move to build
sequences. You want to make the sequences as long as possible so that
you can bring as many cards as possible into the tableau. Ideally,
you'd like to start sequences with Kings and build down to Ace.
However, this is often not possible because the Kings and other high
ranked cards may not be available.
Build high ranked cards first, as they will allow for longer
sequences. Only when you have no other choice do you want to create
sequences of low ranked cards such as Threes, Twos, or Aces.
Trusty Twelve is difficult to win. An average player will win it about
20% of the time, although good players can do better. There are two
similar variations, Sweet Sixteen and Knotty Nines.
Trusty Twelve is one of the 760 games in Pretty Good Solitaire at
http://www.goodsol.com/download.html and one of the 300 games in
PrettyGood Solitaire Mac Edition at
